New year, new you? The Royal Exchange Manchester is here to help you keep those healthy resolutions.
Go on, be honest. How many first of Januarys have you declared ‘new year, new me’? How many times have you started the year raring to go with steadfast resolutions to turn your body into a temple of optimum health? And, erm, how many times has your willpower started to wain before we’ve even reached the twelfth night and it’s time to take the tree down?
We’ve all been there. Most years! 2019, however, is the year to crack it; because The Royal Exchange Manchester has put everything in place to make getting fit and healthy not only easy, but also massively enjoyable!
The first thing you need to get extremely excited about is the premium state-of-the-art gym opening in The Royal Exchange this year. We can’t tell you too much about it just yet, but we can tell you that the luxury facility will be a real treat to train in. Stay tuned for more news on that.
In the meantime, newly opened café 3Squared, in the iconic Royal Exchange Arcade, has made healthy eating an absolute delight. The beautifully designed café is Manchester’s first free-from eatery, redefining ‘free from’ food and providing a wide selection of incredibly tasty and well-presented dishes to be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians, coeliacs, allergy sufferers – and everyone else. All of 3Squared dishes are free from gluten, dairy, wheat, soya and refined sugar and their mission is to be that one place in which you are guaranteed to leave feeling less stressed than when you arrived.
3Squared also offer a ‘Grab and Go’ menu for those in a hurry. Tasty choices include:
- Chickpea, black rice and sweet potato salad with a maple dressing – £6.50
- Salmon fillet with apple, cucumber and dill salad – £6.95
- Chicken breast, brown rice and sweet leaf salad with avocado oil dressing- £6.95
- Lentil and bean bowl with butternut squash and Mediterranean vegetables- £6.50
Once you’re fully fuelled, it’s time to head down the Arcade for some more mind, body and soul nourishment with one of Lululemon free yoga classes, which take place every Sunday at 9.30am. Available on a first-come basis, the sessions are led by a different lululemon fitness ambassador each week, ensuring yogis benefit and develop from every practice. Even better, you can also kit yourself out while you’re there, from lululemon’s amazing choice of incredible activewear and accessories.
And if your ‘new you’ is a lifestyle change, Vertigo Café is the new plant based eatery now officially open on the Cross Street side of the building, where you can enjoy a range of artisan sandwiches, delicious soups, stews, curries and cakes from its fully vegan menu. Sit in and chill out in the relaxed, casual surroundings of the café, or get your food to takeaway. Most of the food is freshly prepared on-site, and you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy it. They are open till 9pm every day, an oh yes, they also serve vegan beer.
Finally, if getting fit in the great outdoors is more your thing, then you absolutely need to visit the Fjallraven store on Old Bank Street. Another first for Manchester, just over a year ago esteemed brand The Sporting Lodge joined forces with Fjallraven and picked The Royal Exchange as the location for the first ever UK Fjallraven store. You’ll be spoilt for choice with their huge range of outdoor clothing, bags and accessories. Practical wear, yet so good looking – what more could you ask?!
We look forward to seeing (the new!) you in The Royal Exchange Manchester very soon!
