Life after lockdown is looking good at The Royal Exchange Manchester

Whilst many of us were grateful for a little – or in some cases, a lot of – online shopping during the lockdown period, so many of us massively missed the experience of shopping in physical stores.  We missed the ‘event’ of shopping.  We missed the buzz of the city, the excitement of browsing, the endorphin lift that only comes from impulse buying, and the joy of not having to wait for your purchase to be delivered!

Now that restrictions have eased, most shops, cafes and restaurants at The Royal Exchange Manchester are open and operating in accordance with government guidelines. Shoppers are required to socially distance and, to wear masks (from 24th July). The Royal Exchange has been hugely impressed by the responsible behaviour of all visitors; they have contributed to make our shops, cafes and restaurants safe places to be, and continue to do so.

If you’re planning a trip to Manchester you’ll pleased to know that now really is the ideal time to buy, with many of our shops launching their summer sales and running special offers instore.  To help you plan your visit to The Royal Exchange, we’ve put together a list of some of the discounts you can currently enjoy:

Fjallraven, the stylish outdoor wear and equipment shop on Old Bank Street, has launched its summer sale and has some incredible reductions.  We love the Fjallraven Expedition Down Lite Jacket, reduced from £500 to £299.

Yards Store, neighbour to Fjallraven, also has some fantastic bargains, such as the Calvin Klein Square Backpack, reduced from £90 to £35.

Lanigan & Hulme has just added new lines to its sale of premium menswear from classic British brands.  We love the Walsh Ensign Harold Tweed Trainers, reduced from £165 to £120.

Scribbler has a fabulous offer on at the moment; four cards for only £9.99!  That even includes their glittery shiny cards that cost £5 each on their own.  Perfect for stocking up on birthday cards for the rest of the year.

The Body Shop is currently offering a free gift if you spend £30 or more (while stocks last) and it is providing a 20% discount off all its products to NHS employees with valid ID. They’ve also increased the capacity for click and collect so there’s no queue when you go instore to pick up your order.

Mays Jewellers & Pawnbrokers in the Arcade tell us the price of gold has gone up, which is great for anyone who has unwanted items to cash in on (make sure make sure you take ID with you).

French Connection opened up with their end of season sale, with up to 70% off!  We are at little bit in love with the Snuggle Knit Crew Jumper, available in four colours, and reduced from £75 to £14 (we’re having one in each colour!).

No shopping trip is complete without a coffee and cake pitstop or a leisurely lunch, so we’re thrilled that our favourite eateries are open again.

Annies on Old Bank Street is serving a full menu of delicious dishes, including its much loved afternoon tea, in its familiar cosy surroundings – whilst still maintain social distancing.  Please book in advance of your visit.

Vertigo on Cross Street is open for takeaway only at the moment, but well worth a visit for its scrumptious plant-based meals and treats. We recommend the pancake stack with lotus biscoff sauce, lotus biscoff crumb and ice cream!

Michaels Coffeehouse is open and back serving up what many class as ‘the best coffee in town’.  You can hear the sound of coffee-lovers across Manchester rejoicing! How does the hashtag go….#worththewait

TGI Fridays has returned with a new logo, new look and an amazing new food and cocktail menu – a lovely treat for the family if you’re venturing out.

The Remedy Kitchen free-from cafe is a welcome return for many of us who may have overindulged during lockdown, and are in need of some delicious healthy nutritious meals to help get us back on track.

On the subject of health, we highly recommend popping in to Amaranth Wellbeing in the Arcade to check out their latest offers on natural beauty products, or to get some health, nutrition or beauty advice from their award winning team of experts.

This also leads us nicely to the government’s latest update on beauty salons, which means Amaranth will soon be able to open up their treatment rooms again, and just along the Arcade we are delighted that Razor’s Edge hair salon is now open for business.

So there you go, just a few reasons why now is the time to buy. We look forward to seeing you the next time you’re in Manchester!
