The Royal Exchange Manchester is part of this year’s Manchester Flower Festival, which is taking place from Friday 24th to Monday 27th May. The city is hosting the floral celebrations for the seventh year, and organiser, CityCo is set to delight all with themed decorations, live music, alfresco food and drink, workshops, and more.

Located within the Festival Zone, The Royal Exchange is part of the Floral Displays and Garden Trail. As this year’s theme is ‘Manchester Icons in Flowers’, a fabulous floral representation is being created of Manchester icon Rowetta, from Happy Mondays. The songstress will be crafted from a mannequin, with her hair and outfit inspired by another city icon, the Manchester Bee.

Designer, Royal Exchange Flowers, will create a bright hive of fresh and dried flowers, and plants including peonies, sunflowers, roses, and more. The colours will be inspired by the 1990s and the English rock band, to celebrate Manchester’s iconic music scene. Music from some of Manchester’s finest including Oasis, The Stone Roses, and Blossoms will play over the speakers to fill the air of the arcade over the weekend.

Georgia Orzel, Building Manager at The Royal Exchange Manchester said, “We’re so excited to welcome back The Manchester Flower Festival over the bank holiday weekend. Last year, our Hilda Ogden display was very popular amongst visitors, so we hope this year’s piece is just as loved.”
